Cyclanthera pedata

Pronounced 'Kai-wa', this is a vine with gherkin-like fruit eaten raw or pickled with a cucumber crispness and taste. The leaves and young shoots can also be eaten.  It originates in the Andes where is has been domesticated for many centuries. Contains phytochemicals which are said to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.  Will sprawl or climb to 4m. Single plant in a 9cm pot.
