The best variety for dill seeds, produced by the large umbels of lacy yellow flowers. Use seed in sauerkraut, pickling gherkins & cucumber, dill pickles and vinegar. Leaves can also be used. Dill also has a long history of medicinal use, noteably in gripe water for soothing babies' digestive problems and in promoting the flow of milk in nursing mothers. Chewing the seeds is also said to imporive bad breath. The plant is a useful garden companion as is attracts beneficial insects such as hoverflies and ladybirds.
