Curcurbita maxima

Heirloom from 1932.  Deep bluish green fruit with deep ribbed sides and flat top and base.  Flesh is thick, semi-sweet and very tasty.  Two or three 4-8kg fruit per vine, which store well.  The tender tips and soft leaves on the ends of trailing stems can be snipped off after three or four fruits have started to form. These can then be fried with garlic, steamed, or used in soups. The flowers can be stuffed e.g. with soft cheese, then dipped in batter and fried. Plant 200cm apart.  9cm pot.
