Salvia austriaca
Also known as Pannonian Sage, this herbaceous perennial is native to highlands of Russia and Eastern Europe. It features a very large basal rosette from which multiple upright stems carry 20-25 cm long inflorescences of whitish to pale yellow flowers in whorls of six or more. The flowers are very attractive to bees and butterflies. Austrian Sage is a source of taxodone, a diterpenoic compound that has anti-inflammatory and tumor reducing effects.
Height to 60cm when in flower. Plant in full sun to partial shade and rich, well-drained soil. Prefers some moisture.
