Chelidonium majus
Hardy perennial for most soils and conditions, including shade, though it needs some moisture. Important medicinal herb with a long history use including as a sedative, anti-spasmodic and detoxifier. The whole plant is toxic in moderate doses as it contains a range of isoquinoline alkaloids but there are numerous therapeutic uses when used at the correct dosage. The toxic effects are reduced by drying the plant. Not recommended during pregnancy and for children under 12. Ht 50cm.
