Andrew Crowe, who wrote A Field Guide to the Native Edible Plants of NZ, identified nearly 200 edible plants in New Zealand, however many of them are only really of food value in a survival situation. We have tried to select some of the most useful (ie. easy to harvest and tasty to eat!) for our range, plus those natives which have other benefits within a food forest system, e.g. medicinal uses, nitrogen fixation or good ground cover.
