A fast growing plant providing good ground cover, that grows like clover and will smother weeds. It produces pretty red pea-like flowers followed by delicious winged pods combining the flavour of both peas and asparagus. Harvest pods when 3cm long (no longer, or they will be fibrous and tough), steam and serve with butter. Seeds from larger pods can be cooked and eaten like peas. Shoot tips can also be eaten in salads. Cutting the plants back by half and feed with liquid fertiliser to trigger a second crop in autumn. Nitrogen fixing where symbiotic bacteria are present. 9cm pot. Certified organic plant. Available Nov – Feb.
