Also known as ground cherry. Sprawling shrub which is annual except in subtropical areas. The bushes can sprawl and benefit from staking. The fruit is a juicy ball enclosed in a ‘Chinese lantern’ paper husk, fun for kids to grow and eat. Eat raw or in preserves. Harvest when husks are brown and papery. 9cm pot. Certified organic plant. Available Nov – Jan/Feb only.
