Scabiosa ochroleuca
Also known as Cream Pincushion Flower, this clump-forming herbaceous perennial is native to Europe, Russia, Turkey and western Asia. The basal and stem leaves can be simple or pinnatifid and upper stem leaves are finely divided. The dainty cream-yellow flowers borne in summer on wiry stems are typical of the genus in their domed, pincushion-like appearance, having central florets surrounded by larger marginal florets. Like other Scabiosa, the flowers are great for attracting pollinators.
Cream Scabious thrives in well-drained, open situations in neutral to alkaline soils, and works well in naturalistic plantings, wildflower borders, and underneath deciduous fruit trees.
Height to 70cm when in flower.
