Campanula rapunculoides
Groundcover bellflower with edible shoots, leaves, flowers and nutty roots. Spreads rapidly on rhizomes and produces deep, taproot-shaped tubers. Lilac spires of bellflowers to 1.2m in summer are very attractive to bees. Prefers summer moisture. Full sun to part shade. May be invasive – or carpet your food forest with a sea of weed-suppressing wild forage plants – whichever way you look at it!
