Nicotiana sylvestris
Perennial plant but often biennial in cold winter climates, and more often treated as an annual. Lush growth in both drought and humidity, up to 1.5m tall – great for the back of a border. Also great in the vege garden – the sticky leaves act as natural fly paper capturing whitefly etc! The flowers have an exotic jasmine scent, especially at night to attract pollinating moths. Also known as Peace Pipe Tobacco as it can in theory be smoked – it is thought to be one of the parents of the commercially grown tobacco. 9cm pot. Available Dec-Feb only.
