Tall herbaceous short-lived perennial which bears a dramatic flower display on multiple heads. Pink buds open to lavender flowers which then turn to true blue, so that all three colours may be seen on the plant at once. These flowers are edible and make a great addition to salads, and the young leaves and shoots can also be harvested and used as a vegetable. Italian Bugloss also has medicinal uses but care is advised. A red dye can be harvested from the roots. Suits a sunny site at the back of a border and will thrive in most soil conditions. Height to 1.5m. Certified organic plant.
