Subtropical aromatic grass with a subtle citrus flavour used in Asian cuisine – perfect for Thai curries, chicken and fish dishes etc.
Known in Chinese as Xiang Mao, lemongrass has medicinal properties, and is used for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and mild astringent properties. It can be used to treat digestive tract spasms, stomachache, high blood pressure, convulsions, pain, vomiting, cough, achy joints (rheumatism), fever, the common cold, and exhaustion. The leaves can be steeped to make a soothing herb tea.
Perennial but frost tender – grow in a pot and bring inside to overwinter or cover in winter. Height to 90cm. Certified organic plant.
