Description
Knautia macedonica
Classical clump-forming herbaceous plant related to the true scabious. Pincushion flowers vary in colour from deep maroon through crimson and pink, and are borne on airy stems from summer to late autumn. The flowers are fantastic for attracting bees and butterflies, indeed this species is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen.
Native to South-eastern Europe, these plants are hardy perennials which enjoy full sun and are easy-care, doing well on any average garden soil. Clumps grow to 45cm wide and flower stems grow to a height of up to 75cm.
9cm pot. Certified organic plant.
