Description
Cornus alba
Also known as White Dogwood. Species noted for its striking red stems in autumn and winter which can be used for basketry. However it provides ornamental value year round with small creamy flowers in summer followed by berries and richly coloured orange-red leaves in autumn. Very hardy and fast growing shrub to 3m. For the best display of red stems during winter, cut back each spring to approx. 25cms above ground level. Happy in most soil types but prefers some moisture.
