Popular, reliable, early producing heirloom variety. Long pink stems with a very sweet winey flavor, great for pies, jams, crumbles, wine etc. Cook with angelica to reduce requirement for sugar. NB. All rhubarb leaves are poisonous if consumed in large amounts due to the high oxalic acid content. Rhubarb provides good ground cover and will tolerate part shade, and is a useful herbaceous layer in a food forest. Feed, mulch and water well. Certified organic plant.
