Description
Rheum rhabarbarum
Reliable variety with stems varying from green through pink to red. High yield plants even late in the season when other varieties are high in oxalic acid. Cook with angelica to reduce requirement for sugar. NB. All rhubarb leaves are poisonous if consumed in large amounts due to the high oxalic acid content. Rhubarb provides good ground cover and will tolerate part shade, and is a useful herbaceous layer in a food forest. Feed, mulch and water well. Certified organic plants.
