Traditional fragrant ground cover in England since Tudor times. Can be mown like grass but if allowed to flower, the flowers can be used for tea or hair rinse like German chamomile. Both leaves and flowers are edible and can be used in salads. The plant also has a long history of safe medicinal use, primarily as a sedetive and for digestive disorders. It can also be used in beer brewing, and has anti-fungicidal properties and can be made into plant sprays. The plant accumulates calcium, potassium and phosphorus and can be used to activate a compost heap. Perennial. Height to 15cm.
