Also known as Showy Calamint. Herbaceous sweetly aromatic perennial native to the Mediterranean. Popular Italian culinary herb with a slightly minty flavour similar to pennyroyal. Low growing spreading mound with fragrant blue flower spikes. The herb can be used medicinally; it has antiseptic, diaphoretic and expectorant uses. A tea can be made from the leaves and flowers but should not be taken by pregnant women. Excellent bee attractor.
Plant in a sunny spot with dry or moist soil. Height to 60cm when in flower.
