Truly perennial brassica producing a central creamy white cauli-flower head with many sprouting side shoots. Plants will sprout year after year if you don’t allow plants to go to seed (ie. you need to keep eating all the florets!). Plants grow tall (to 1 metre) and can be top heavy so we recommend staking them.
The plant was originally developed in the 1920s by Charles Curtis from Cambridgeshire in the UK. Seeds and plants are quite rare, partly because Nine Star produces a lot less seed compared to other brassicas, and because it is not grown commerically. Available usually late winter through spring, and again Autumn through early winter.
