Description
Reseda luteola
The best known yellow dye plant, used at least since Roman times. A biennial with a tall stem of flowers up to 1.5m growing up from a rosette of leaves. It is closely related to the common cottage garden plant mignonette, and is a good bee and butterfly attractor. Harvest leaves and flower stalks from mid summer onwards when the plant is in flower but still green.
